While the previous pages of this website (our anniversary party) were done by my wonderful son and guru, Rob, this Ohio page and the following pages are being done by me. (With Rob's occasional help.) We have purchased a software program for building web pages that even a beginner is supposed to be able to use, but I'm afraid that if I didn't have Rob here to explain it all, I would not be able to do it.  Hopefully, with his help, I will learn how to do it on my own.  He even wrote me a manual so that I can do it by myself.

    My Ohio Trip

The purpose of our trip to Ohio was to undergo a new therapy for my feet. I have peripheral neuropathy and one of its effects is that it is very painful for me to walk for more than a few minutes at a time.  My daughter, Carol, read of a new therapy created by a company called Anodyne, and after some investigation we decided that it was worth a try.  There was no place in Virginia offering this therapy but lo and behold, it was available at a rehab place in Ohio about 5 miles from my son's home.  I had to go five days a week for 4 weeks, although the sessions lasted only about a half hour.

These are the  "pads" that Erica, my lovely young therapist, strapped to my feet.  They were attached by wires to a "little black box" smaller than a bread box and those little dots you see are where the Led lights were .  The theory being that the Led lights get rid of the nitric acid in the blood, thereby allowing the blood vessels to expand, and increase circulation.  They have had great success in treating patients with Gout and with ulcerated sores, but I am sorry to say that the treatment did not do me any good.

Using velcro strips to hold them in place, Erica put one of the 'pads' under each of my feet, in the area beneath my toes, and the other two went on top of my feet.  You can see the wires that are attached to the unit.  And so I sat there for a half hour each morning, knitting and chatting with other patients in the Physical Therapy area of Mayfair Village, which is a retirement home in Columbus, Ohio.

Some sunshine amidst the tears.

While I am so terribly disappointed that the Annodyne Therapy did not work for me, there is a definite plus side of this trip!  We have spent a month at our son's home in Columbus, and the added bonus being the Grand Kids!

All of the grand kids showed up at Rob's on Memorial Day.  Chris and Carrie christened the new grill by cooking S'mores on it. Rob's friend, Margaret, supervised the fire to be sure it was just the right temperature for making S'mores. (Naturally, she had to sample one to be sure they were making them correctly.)

Katie invited Sarah and me to dinner at her new apartment.  She cooked a delicious  sweet and sour chicken with vegetable fried rice.  Then we had fortune cookies, and it didn't make any difference how many I opened, my fortune was always the same!  I think it was rigged.  That's Sarah watching Katie put the finishing touches on the meal.

The table is set and ready for us to sit down.

Katie's room mate (also named Katie) bought a beautiful red sofa for their living room.  Our Katie says that the other Katie is the official decorator and the apartment reflects her good taste in spite of  limited funds.

And here is Katie's bedroom.  She took me shopping last week and I bought her a new duvet cover with  purple flowers.  Since that has always been Katie's favorite color, she then proceded to paint her walls a pale shade of that  color.  Her favorite black leopards keep watch over her room.

One of the highlights of our trip was grandson David's graduation from High School, Magna Cum Laude, with special  honors for Community Service and Senior Project.  He will attend Ohio State University in September.

And while we were there, granddaughter, Sarah, and her fiance, TJ, bought a house!
In the center picture on the porch are her brother, Chris, and Granmpa, Linc.

While we were in Ohio, we also attended the 50th Anniversary of dear friends, Fran and Ned Black.  Shortly after the celebration, Ned was hospitalized with a rare blood infection.  We are happy to report that he is back home again.
