Welcome to the Fish Pond!
FEBRUARY
26, 2006 Allison Jean Fish was
born at 8:28 P.M. on Thursday, February 23, just 3 days after her
cousin Audry came into this world. Allison weighed an even
9 lbs and is 21 inches long. (Cousin Audry weighed 8 lb 5
ounces and was 19 inches long!) Unfortunately, and the reason
for the delay in reporting Allison's birth, she has had too much
fluid in her little lungs and after brief 'bonding' time with the
family, was placed on oxygen in ICU. However we are pleased
to report that she has been weaned off oxygen and will go home either
today or tomorrow. You can see pictures of both beautiful
little girls at robfish.com. Just follow the prompts. Great
Gram and Great Grandpa are doing fine and much in love with their
two beautiful grands!!
FEBRUARY
21, 2006 One down and one to go!
Sarah and TJ are the proud parents of Audry Harper, 8 pounds,
5 ounces, length, 19 Inches, and born Monday, February 20 at 6:35 a.m. (On her Aunt Carrie's
Birthday. Aunt Carrie is "due" to have her
baby any day now !) Great Grampa and I went to
see her yesterday, and watched through the window as the nurse cleaned
her up and gave her first bath. Audrey did not like
her bath! Audrey is now "in residence" in her mother's
room and we shall leave in a few minutes for a brief visit with
her, along with her mother and father, of course ! I called
Carol yesterday afternoon, knowing of course, that Rob had made
her aware of the newcomer's arrival. While Carol is so tickled
that her brother is now a grandfather, she is, at the same time,
more than slightly jealous of his new grandparental status! We have seen
pictures of baby Audrey being held by Carol's David, and they are
adorable. Katie and Carol will both come to Columbus in March, when they
are
sure that Carrie has also presented us with a baby. Just about
everyone but Grampa and I have had their pictures taken with the
new arrival. And that is something we hope to take care of
this afternoon... Later... We have been to the hospital,
where I held Audry and then held her some more!! She is truly
a darling and slept most of the time, opening her little blue eyes
occasionally to see what was going on! Sarah and TJ
are going to take her home this evening, which promises to
be the beginning of "real" parenthood for them both. I
am available at all times if they need me, but I'm betting that
they will manage just fine!
FEBRUARY
17,2006 Still no babies! But I guess to
be fair about it all, the girls really haven't reached their
"due dates", in spite of the way they look and certainly
feel! We haven't seen them in nearly two weeks, but unless
they go to the hospital, we are planning on celebrating the Birthdays
of David (who is finally 21 and can legally buy beer!) Chris
(who was 29 on Valentine's Day) and Carrie (whose Birthday is the
20th). Chris called today to tell us how miserable Carrie
is! She has another week to work yet and wishes she could
take her leave now! I left a message on Sarah's phone since
she wasn't answering! I hope to give them their babies' souvenirs
from Myrtle Beach, and also Valentine Candy which I have had forever,
it seems, but haven't seen them. Rob came over for dinner
on Tuesday, and he and David came over Wednesday night. The
girls and their spouses had Baby Appointments and couldn't
come . Sad news tho--Donna wrote that
Len had quite a severe stroke, and she is spending much of her time
going back and forth to the hospital. It's pretty scary as
it seems the older we become, the more of our dear friends either
leave us or have some catastrophic occurrence. But
Hooray, Hooray, I just did our Federal and State Income Tax returns
and they are ready to go!! And now the Olympics are calling
me...
FEBRUARY 12,2006
Home again!! And so are both
of our Mothers-to-be, still!! I'm sure that at this point,
they both wish it were all over, and they could begin the wonderful
journey of BEING MOTHERS which begins at birth and continues
on into the future (with a Lot of help from their spouses!)
I called them several times from Myrtle Beach
to be sure that we could enjoy our visit. And such a nice
visit it was! We spent more time than usual with Vinnie and
Lee , which was truly a pleasure--went over to their Condo every
day and played cards or just 'visited' with them, and ate there,
twice. And a couple of times Peg and Joe joined
us for cocktails and we went out to dinner together. It
was so enjoyable to be with all four of them again! We missed
Tee and Bill, who were in Florida, celebrating Tee's birthday, but
who usually were with Linc and me at the hotel. But it was
a wonderful week-I even got a little sunburn while sitting on our
balcony, over looking the ocean. The two front
wheels of the wheelchair broke while coming out of the mall-- turns
out they are made of plastic. Linc and Vinnie managed to find
someone to replace the wheels but it was expensive! And since
we haven't made the first payment on the wheelchair, we intend to
go back to where we bought it and see if they will reimburse us!
But on the day that it broke, I was forced to walk more than
my feet were willing, and thus they (my feet) hurt more than usual! We
did some shopping while at MB and found some Easy Spirit shoes
that are extra wide, to accommodate my poor Neuropathy-ridden feet.
I have decided that since I can't walk much anyway,
I might as well wear something reasonably attractive on
my feet, instead of the ugly (I think) Nike's that I have been wearing.
Anyway, we had a wonderful trip. We took two days going
and spent the night in Greensboro, where we indulged in a very nice
dinner. Coming home, Linc decided he didn't want to spend
another night in a motel, and so we (he, really) drove 12 hours
and arrived home Friday night. Molly was so-o-o glad to see us!
Which reminds me, we have to go and pay our Kitty Sitter!!
