23, 2006 Another Ohio Gray Day! Well,
at least it's not too cold, and not raining at this moment! And
not too much to write about, either! Babe called
from Virginia, and we had a really nice chat! Not too much
has changed since we left, and Babe is really 'getting into' her
new community! Lucky her!! Friday night we
went to Whitehall Yearling High School and applauded while Preston
was placed in the school's Hall of Fame. Preston is a friend of
Rob whom we have known since their High School days, and is always
so giving of himself to the community. I'm so glad he was
finally recognized. Afterwards we went to a late supper with
Preston, his wife Connie, and their daughter. We had a lively
good time! Yesterday was another Baby Shower for
Sarah, and since I was invited and going with Sarah, I took my gift
to Angela's (across the street from Rob). I had piled the wrapped
gifts into a baby hamper which I did not wrap, but topped with a
darling stuffed dog looking out and I wanted my gift to be a complete
surprise! I guess Angie and I did a good job
of hiding our sneakiness from Sarah, as when she opened the card
she was really surprised that the gift was from me! Anyway,
the shower was lovely and Sarah received many nice, useful and pretty
gifts. We have been to the movies quite a bit lately
- on Friday we went out to lunch with John and Linda and then to
see The Producers. In the beginning, I wondered what we were
doing there, it was so awful, but it did get better and I guess
I actually enjoyed it. Linc and I had just gone to see Pride
and Prejudice, which I really liked more. And I guess
that's about it, except I have to decide what to serve for Family
Night on Wednesday as it's our turn to host. Maybe Sloppy
Joe's?

16,2006 I give up!! I
just can't seem to keep this thing up to date! But
then time goes by very quickly when you are as old as I am! We
have really been blessed with Katie's presence this month. She
arrived here on the 6th of January, and we went shopping for gifts
for the Baby Shower to be held later this month for Sarah. I
won't say what we bought, as Sarah does read this. Then,
on Monday we took her over to David's where she borrowed his car. (Katie
had to go to Columbus and stay at Nationwide's motel and do whatever
she had to do with Nationwide.) But she was able to join us
for Family Night on Wednesday at Chris and Carrie's. I
went to see Dr. Julie that day, and she doubled the pain medication
for my feet, making it very difficult to stay awake! I am
now splitting the dosage, taking one in the morning and the other
at dinner time. It seems to be working better. Katie
came back on Friday evening for dinner. We didn't do much,
but on Saturday, we all met Sarah for a nice Greek lunch.
Then she and Sarah went shopping. I gave Katie a check
to shop with for something for Carrie even though her shower was
only for a few friends-- I really wanted to give Carrie something!
Sarah put the money with hers and TJ's and got a lot of items
for the baby-to-be's crib. On Friday we also took
Rob to the airport and will pick him up again tomorrow! Then,
yesterday was Red Hat Day. We met at Thelma's Club House and
had a great time playing Bunko. And, no, I did not win anything! This morning, Linc
is bowling, and I am waiting for him to come home and see what's
the problem with my Eudora! And that's all for now!!

1. 2006 Happy New Year, everyone!!
And believe it or not, the sun is shining-very unusual for
Ohio this time of the year. Is this a good omen? Christmas
has come and gone, and I guess I have the winter Blah's - at any
rate, I don't feel like doing a thing, and it is time to take down
the tree and put away all the pretty decorations. Normally, I hate
to do that job as I really enjoy looking at all the decorations,
but for some reason, I think it will be good to get the house back
to normal! We did have a lovely Christmas Holiday,
though- Carol came in on Thursday, so we went out and bought
all the food imaginable for the up-coming festivities. David joined
us for dinner on Thursday and again the following night. Our
Christmas celebrations began with an intimate Shower/Brunch
for Sarah and Carrie at 10 AM on Christmas Eve. It was
so nice , and Carol really outdid herself with the gifts! I,
of course, gave them the Baby Blankets that I had knitted
for each of them. Then at around 3 PM, the rest of the families
began arriving for our Gift Exchange. Those who could not
make it had sent their Exchange Gifts in, so we really had fun,
and since only one person at a time was allowed to open his/her
gift, it really stretched out! Then it was time for dinner,
which we all enjoyed at one long, long table that the men
created! Carrie's family all left around
7 to go to Church Services, but the rest of us 'made merry' for
a while, and we exchanged gifts with Carol and Bert and they gave
their gifts to David so that they could all leave early in the morning
for their next Christmas Stops. On Christmas morning Carol
and Bert managed to find time to open their Stocking before leaving
for Bert's parents' home. We drove over to Chris and Carrie's
for breakfast and watched them open their gifts for a while, and
then brought Rob over to our house, where once again, it was time
to open more presents! Then, much too soon, it was time to take
Rob to the airport for his trip to Florida and Margaret!
As usual, it was a lovely Christmas, and Linc and I
spent the week recuperating, eating leftovers, and generally being
lazy. Friday night we had Fran over for dinner and of course,
last night was New Year's Eve, which Linc and I celebrated with
Asti Spumante and watched "the Ball" come down at midnight.
