Welcome to the Fish Pond!!!

NOVEMBER 22, 2005
Last night Linc and I went to the Ohio Theater and saw a beautiful production of "A Christmas Carol".  No matter how many times I have see it, this was the best!  Of course, I probably say that each time I have seen It!
Today, after I fluffed it up a bit, Linc put up the big wreath over the garage , and he also put the Snow-man banner on the front of the house.  I dressed the Goose in her Holiday Finery and put the wreath on the front door!  So at least the outside of the house is nearly ready for Christmas.  The inside is another story!  But Pon came today with her daughter to clean, so tomorrow I'll go downstairs and begin making my fresh arrangements.
Chris came today and fixed my computer, so I can finally get on the Internet.  I am so fortunate to have such a smart Grandson!  I also did some more work on Carrie's Baby Blanket, and somehow the day is nearly gone!
My Christmas shopping is nearly completed, although nothing is wrapped as yet, but now that my computer is fixed, I guess I can concentrate on the important stuff - like decorating!  David tells me that he has ordered the Terducken and it will be delivered here, and that his friends will be over next Saturday for dinner, so that gives me a week to do the decorating!  I might make it!

We just came back from shopping.  And except for stocking stuffers for Rob and my gifts to Linc, I believe I am finished!  Sarah said she would take me out to buy Linc's gifts, so  I have nothing more to worry about.  Linda gave me candles and greens for the 3 fresh Christmas Arrangements I want to make and I will begin to do them on Friday, I think. Hopefully, we can begin to decorate for Christmas next week sometime, except for the tree which will wait another week or so.
Yesterday, Sarah and I went to the Flower Factory and we both got ribbon, while I also purchased a case of Oasis (that should last me a few years at the rate I'm going!) and some cute Snowmen to send to my old club at the Lake for their annual Christmas Party.
Thursday is Thanksgiving, and while we have already celebrated with the Family and a huge turkey,  Sarah, TJ and Rob will join us for a Prime Rib dinner.   Then on Christmas Eve, when everyone will be here again, plus most of Carrie's family, we will have a Ham!
Carrie's Baby Blanket is coming along.  I am nearly done with the second skein of yarn!

Yesterday was our Family Thanksgiving and 12 of us gathered to celebrate.  Katie came in from Salt Lake City, Carol and Bert arrived from Lake Allegon, Michigan, and Carol's Ex, Peter, came  in from Mentor, Ohio.   Also attending were Rob, Chris and Carrie, David, Sarah and TJ, and of course, Linc and myself.   I won't go into details as to what we ate, but rest assured, there was a ton of food, all delicious, with many welcome and yummy contributions from Carrie, David,  Katie, Sarah and Pete.  We had tons of food and lots of good fellowship! Both our guest room and Sun Porch were occupied by family members, much to my great pleasure.   And we finalized ( I think) our plans for Christmas, and a Brunch in honor of Carrie and Sarah.
Needless to say, today I am exhausted, and my poor feet are absolutely in agony!  But I managed to do another few inches on Carrie's blanket.

NOVEMBER 11, 2005
We went to the lake last Friday, to a Memorial Service for Joan Talbott, a very good friend.  In fact, I told David that I was glad we had moved, as I don't think I could have our annual Christmas Party without Joan being there.  I think we have had them every year since we moved to the lake.  It is so sad to know that she is not with us any more.  David had e-mailed us about her condition almost every day.  Even so, I think she went very quickly--which was good for her, but an awful shock for the rest of us.
But although our reason for going to the lake was sad, we actually saw a lot of people whom we hadn't seen for over a year, and I also stopped in at Bunko for a few minutes and had a nice visit with a lot of my old buddies!
We stayed at Dot and Richard's, and Babe and Larry came over for dinner on Sunday.  It's always nice to stay with the Finger's and we really had a nice visit.
It has been rather hectic since we got home, as we are having the family over for an early Thanksgiving, tomorrow, and so  I have been busy doing all that I can do ahead of time.  Today I baked 1 mince, 1 blueberry and 2 pumpkin pies. (Carol's ex, Peter, will bring an apple pie!) We discovered last year that by having an early Thanksgiving, EVERYONE could make it!  Katie will be in from Salt Lake City and Carol and Bert will come down from Michigan.  Unfortunately, Brian (in California) will not be able to make it this year, and we shall miss him. But he called today and said he would call again tomorrow when the gang is all here.  Actually, he wanted the recipes for Cobbler and Spoon bread Casserole, which, of course I was glad to share with him.  I have the Orange Carrots, two kinds of Stuffing and a Squash Casserole ready to be baked.  The cheese is all cut up and the berries washed  for the cheese and strawberry tray, and the Nuts are out.  And I just cleaned the Turkey, so he is ready to stuff!!
Chris is sick! (He'd better be well enough to come to dinner, tomorrow!)  so Carrie stayed home to nurse him, and Sarah and TJ went to a concert, thus, Family Night this week consisted of Linc and myself, Rob and David.  It being a small group, we took them out to eat at Max and Erma's for a pleasant change of scenery.
I finally got Carrie's baby blanket started and have about 2 inches done.  Now we are awaiting the arrival of Carol and Bert, who should be here in a little while.  They had to stop near Cleveland to visit Bert's mom, who has fallen and broken her hip.  We wish her well!  She has not had a good year, that's for sure!

NOVEMBER 2,2005
Tonight was Family Night, here, and per David's request, we had Chicken Fajitas.  I had a ton of chicken and veggies, and have nothing left except some onions, which we froze for later use. I think everyone took something home, which is good!  I also baked a Raspberry Cobbler, which was well received, and also pretty much disappeared!  I do enjoy feeding them all, and having them take the leftovers home with them.
I even got rid of some of the Halloween Candy. I really thought we might have some costumed characters  on Halloween, so I wrapped Candy Kisses in yellow and black napkins, turned on the outside lights--and waited--and waited some more.  No one came!  What a disappointment!
Sarah brought over the wool she had picked up for me, so I can now begin on Carrie's Baby Blanket.
Katie called from Salt Lake City, tonight, and I guess we must have talked for over a 1/2 hour. She sounds very happy, traveling in her job, and fixing up her "new" old house.  It will be good to see her this month at our Thanksgiving Celebration.
I guess the only other "news" item is that Molly broke her pretty red collar, so we will have to get her a new one tomorrow.
And Carrie, we missed you tonight and hope you are feeling better
