Welcome to the Fish Pond!!!

SEPTEMBER 24, 2005
It has been a quiet week.  But I spent all day on Wednesday with Sarah, and had a lovely time.  We did a lot of looking in Baby's R Us, and I bought a few items for Sarah and Carrie. Sarah is beginning to 'show' a bit as she is not too tall.  The pregnancy is a little harder to discern in Carrie because she is tall! Then I worked on Sarah's baby blanket while she 'practiced' her knitting. She is getting pretty good and will begin to knit 'for real' soon.  While Sarah and I were busy together, Linc was having some much needed work done on his beloved truck!
Family night was at Chris and Carrie's again, and we had some really good chicken and rice.  TJ was there and Rob was not!  But a good time was had by the rest of us,  I'm sure.
Gloria asked if Shirley and I would make the pink 'hat' for Connie, so I guess we will.  I purchased the material to cover the floor as well as the batteries for the lights on the Red Hat float when Linc and I went to Sam's Club. I still have to make the table cloth and cut out the material to cover the big umbrella  for the patio set of Gloria's that we are taking to the parade, but can't really decorate until we get to Circleville.
Last night I finally did a few inches on Sarah's baby blanket with the 3rd skein! Only 4 more to go (when I finish with #3, of course!)

  Linc and I
went to a Craft Show in Delaware, Sunday, and while I'm sure it wasn't fun for poor Linc, pushing me around over uneven surfaces, I really enjoyed it all.  It was huge, and I bought some gifts, which of course I will talk about no more!  (The recipients may read this!)  Anyway, the weather was cool for a change and we had Bratwurst Sandwiches and French Fries for lunch, which were surprisingly good!  In fact, I couldn't eat all of my fries!
But it was a fun day for me!
Yesterday I went to a Red Hat meeting at Connie's and she talked about Fen Shui (She has written a book about it-)  Well, according to her charts, Linc is Water and I am Earth and we are not compatible!  Well, I was truly sorry to hear that--after all, we have only been married for nearly 53 years!
I ripped out all of the Baby Blanket I had started for Sarah as for some reason, one part of the pattern did not agree with my arthritic fingers.  Try as I would, I could not do the one stitch without a great deal of discomfort (translation-pain).  So now I have over an inch done in a new stitch, which I like very much, and I hope that Sarah and Carrie do, too!
I received a much welcome E-mail, full of chatter, from my nephew, Ed, today.  All of my nephews live in N.J., and we don't see nearly enough of them.  When we lived at the lake we at least saw Ken and Shirlene and their 3 little ones, as Shirlene's parents lived quite close.  Now we just don't see anyone!  We are still hoping to make a N.J. visit this fall.

SEPTEMBER 17, 2005
Rob and I surprised Linc at his bowling on Tuesday night.  He did OK but nothing to brag about!  We did meet all his team mates, tho, and that was nice.
Sarah and I went shopping for wool for baby blankets for her and for Carrie.  And I'm sorry to say (sorry, Sarah) that I will have to do a different pattern than the one we picked out.  For some reason, it is extremely painful for my fingers to do a part of the pattern.  Must be my arthritis.  Anyway, I will have to find another pattern.
Wednesday night was Family Night, here, and we surprised everyone with a 'for real' dinner.  Pork Roast, roasted potatoes, broccoli with cheese sauce, apple sauce, gravy, sliced tomatoes and a salad.  For dessert it was a Pineapple-cream cake.  All were surprised and by the time they all took leftovers, there was just enough for Linc and I to finish up last night!
We gave David some much needed socks and he was elated!  The rest of the gang thought it was pretty funny.
Shirley and I took the umbrellas over to Gloria's and some of the Red Hatters were there working on the 'Banners' for the float.  We are certainly all involved in activities for that float!    I got the stuff for the Tastefully Simple party that I am hostessing. so now have the invitations ready to give out on Saturday.  There is a lot of stuff that I have to make up for the party, but I won't worry about that until it's time.

SEPTEMBER 11, 2005

Went to a Red Hat Ladies' Pajama Party at Gloria's yesterday morning.  She had a wonderful Breakfast prepared and there were about 20 of us there!  We ate, visited and played some foolish games.  One of the gals, Marsha, had brought some Raspberry dip which was truly awesome and could be made into a pie instead.  Turns out she got it at a "party"- Tastefully Simple, for which she was a hostess.  So-o-o, I signed up to host a 'party' in October.  Am I crazy, or what?
Last night we went out to dinner with Fran, Annie and Pete.  It is the first time we had seen Annie and Pete since we moved away, 25 years ago.  Well, that's not true, as Annie came up with Fran and Connie Sue to our Anniversary Party.  Anyway, we went to Uno's in Pickerington and really had a nice time.  Pete and Annie sold their Farm and now live in a condo in Canal Winchester.  We went in to visit for a while and  they gave us a tour, and although it is very nice and they did have a room finished off in the basement, I much prefer ours.  Hopefully, we will see them again.
Today, Shirley came over and we finished converting the umbrellas into Red Hats for the Pumpkinville Parade.  We always have a good time together.  I am still making bows for the chairs, and will make the tablecloth and cut the red plastic for Gloria's table.

SEPTEMBER 9, 2005
Happy Birthday, Carol.  Our daughter is celebrating her Birthday today, but I won't embarrass her with the year.  Suffice it to say, we are so proud of her and all she has done and wish her the very best on her special day!
Rob came over and put all my August and earlier entries into their own archives. One of these days I will learn how to do that!  Then Tuesday was Family night and we had a cook-out at Chris & Carries'.  Sarah provided the food and it was good!  We had a great visit with every one!  TJ was the only one missing, and we missed him!
Last evening, Linc and I went to Reynoldsburg's Tomato Festival, intending to have dinner or at least something resembling dinner, there.  Such a disappointment! Years ago when we lived in Ohio it was really a Tomato Festival.  Today it is primarily a Carnival--a place to go on rides and eat carnival-type foods.  There was one tent with home made crafts (nothing related to tomatoes, though.)  The actual tent with tomato products was a huge disappointment!  Granted, there were lots of tomato entries - tomatoes of all shapes and sizes, actually--including the winning tomato, which this year was a sad looking yellow tomato weighing  about two and a half pounds. It received a great prize consisting of $200.00 per pound! Then there were the smallest tomatoes, which looked like red seeds.  But actual tomato products, like tomato relish or tomato bread, entered by John Q. Public, were few and far between.  And the entire grounds consisted of very uneven grass, which made it very difficult for Linc  to push me in the wheelchair, so we each had a Hershey's ice cream cone (Delicious!) and left. We did tell the guy who was collecting the $5.00 parking fee that it was impossible to maneuver the wheel chair, so they should  do people a favor, and let them know the situation, should they have to direct any of them to the Handicap Parking.  In all fairness, he did offer to refund our $ 5.00, but we declined his kind offer. Anyway, the Handicap Parking was excellent, but how you could maneuver if you were handicapped is a mystery to me!  So much for the Tomato Festival!!

SEPTEMBER 6, 2005
I think I may have messed this thing all up.  If so, Rob will be able to fix it tonight when he comes over for dinner! But I will write and then see if I can publish!
Yesterday was a nice day.  David came over for dinner and we always enjoy his company.  Fortunately for us, he still has a way to go at OSU, even tho' he will be a Junior when classes start next week.  Is it possible?  Are we really old enough to have a youngest grandchild who will soon be 21?  And when I think that we will be Great Grands, TWICE in February...
Shirley came over later.  She brought her dog, Maggie, over, and so our Molly was pretty upset and hid.  It seems that Maggie likes cats, however, Molly would have nothing to do with that dog!  I scanned one of the pictures of Maggie that Shirley brought over, but the  labels she brought were the wrong kind.  I managed to find a few sheets of mine for her to use, and we printed out some of the return address labels that I had designed for her.
Now I will see if I can publish this, or if I really messed it up!

SEPTEMBER 4,2005
Today is Saturday, and we don't have a thing planned!  So I guess I will make some more bows for the Red Hat's float in Circleville's Pumpkin Parade.  Shirley came over and we almost completed one of the umbrellas.  It really doesn't look bad.  We still have to put the purple bows and some lights on it.  So yesterday I made about 23 purple bows for all the umbrellas we (the Red Hatters) will be using, and then I started on the big red bows for the backs of the chairs.  I may have them half done.  I'll have to check to see how many we need.
Then I designed some return address labels for Shirley.  She is so good about driving me to all the meetings, I feel that I can't do enough for her!  While I was at it, I did some return labels for Linc and me.
Sarah and I are going shopping on Wednesday for wool to do Baby Blankets for her and Carrie.  And she has volunteered to come over on our "Family Thanksgiving" and help me cook!  Bless her heart!
But, for now, I guess I'll go into the kitchen and make some potato salad!

SEPTEMBER 2, 2005

Again, I don't know where the time has gone!  Maybe it's because I really don't do much, so there isn't much to write about!  Anyway, I see that it is weeks since I last wrote.  Let's see- I went to a Red Hat planning meeting for the Pumpkin Show Parade in Circleville, and now I have lots of bows to make, and Shirley is coming over one day so that we can decorate 3 umbrellas. (Translation - turn the 3 Umbrellas into 3 Red Hats!)
We had Family Night last week at Rob's and celebrated TJ's Birthday and I think we all had a good time!  This week's Family Night was at Chris and Carrie's and we discussed our Family Thanksgiving.  I'm still not sure when we will have it - or where!
This week end is Labor Day Week End, and we have no plans.  Guess it will be just like any other for Linc and me!  Oh well, I guess I knew it would be like that when we left all of our friends behind us at the lake.  Sarah and I are going shopping for wool some day next week, so at least I have that to look forward to!
